The Forge

A young man learns about life, responsibility, and faith after a local businessman takes him under his wing. It was the ninth movie from filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, who also were behind such theatrical hits such as Fireproof and War Room. In fact, The Forge included characters from War Room, even though it works fine as a stand-alone film. Aspen Kennedy soars in the lead role. Rated PG for thematic elements.

Soul on Fire

A 9-year-old boy survives a life-threatening tragedy by relying on his faith and his family. This 2025 film tells the true story of John O’Leary, who was badly burned as a child and was given a 1 percent chance of surviving when he arrived at the hospital. He grew up to become a well-known author and motivational speaker. Rated PG for thematic content including burn injuries, some peril, and suggestive material.

Facing the Giants

A struggling football coach turns to God as his life and career unravel. This 2006 film was the first major hit from filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick (War Room) and grossed more than $10 million – a staggering total that was 100-fold its budget ($100,000). Its PG rating also sparked a mini controversy at the time due to the Motion Picture Association of America’s warning about the film’s “thematic elements” – that is, its strong faith content. The ratings debate boosted its profile. Rated PG for thematic elements.

Blue Miracle

The head of a cash-strapped orphanage teams up with a washed-up fisherman at a prestigious tournament, hoping to win the purse and keep the doors open. This inspiring film follows the real-life story of Casa Hogar, an orphanage in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, that entered a big-money event: the Bisbee’s Black & Blue tournament. Dennis Quaid plays a lead role. Rated TV-PG for mild language.

A Week Away

A troubled teen escapes juvenile detention by attending a summer camp, only to learn – much to his surprise – that it’s faith-based. It’s a Netflix original musical that features fresh reimaginings of CCM classics, including Steven Curtis Chapman’s The Great Adventure and Audio Adrenaline’s Big House, along with a few original songs. It’s a fun Disney-like movie with a hope-filled message every teen should experience. TV-PG.

Testament: The Story of Moses

The story of Moses is retold in this captivating three-part docuseries that includes reenactments alongside interviews with pastors, rabbis, and other experts. Although it includes a range of perspectives – Christian, Jewish, and Muslim – the series gives historic Christianity a strong voice. Just as important, the miracles are presented as supernatural events, not as natural occurrences. TV-14.
