BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 9, 2026--

ModMed®, a leading provider of software and services to specialty medical practices, today announced that its new ModMed Scribe clinical AI Assistant has been used in more than 240,000 patient visits since launching version 2.0 in November 2025. Capable of turning natural language into downstream clinical action in just seconds, ModMed Scribe has already been adopted by more than 1,600 providers, and customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

"ModMed Scribe is a game-changer,” said Jessi Pelletier, RN at Aspire Dermatology. “ModMed Scribe doesn't simply dump information into a free-text field; it utilizes the correct, structured plans within ModMed EHR. It’s like having a human scribe who already knows exactly how I think."

Dr. Peter Brieloff, DPM from Precision Orthopedics and Sports Medicine added: "ModMed Scribe’s remarkable accuracy, seamless integration of medical history and additional diagnoses enhance my efficiency and patient focus."

ModMed Already Adding New Features to ModMed Scribe

Even though ModMed Scribe 2.0 has only been generally available for less than 100 days, the company continues its rapid pace of innovation by adding new features, including:

  • Intelligent note reconciliation: New AI-assisted Smart Merge functionality will identify existing note content and suggest how to manage any duplicates – resolving content conflicts and saving time while preserving clinical accuracy.
  • More device flexibility: ModMed is extending ModMed Scribe to work on the Apple iPhone, in addition to its original Apple iPad deployment. Providers will be able to record and transcribe directly from an iPhone and reconcile seamlessly in either the iPad version or web version of ModMed EHR. ModMed plans to make Scribe available on Android devices in the second half of 2026.
  • Fewer clicks, faster completion: AI-captured body locations and laterality are now automatically included as part of the visit note suggestion, significantly reducing manual clicks in documentation.

As specialty practices face increasing administrative pressures, ModMed Scribe 2.0 offers a fundamental shift and differentiated experience for providers. Unlike 'bolt-on' AI tools, ModMed Scribe 2.0 is built natively within the ModMed EHR, which allows ModMed Scribe to turn natural exam-room dialogue into structured data, actionable clinical orders, and suggested billing codes — seamlessly linking diagnoses to treatments and automating the next steps for prescriptions, labs, and patient education.

This seamless experience is having a remarkable impact on providers such as Belachew Tessema, an MD from The Ear, Nose & Throat Institute of Connecticut, who commented: "ModMed Scribe allows me to capture the visit in real time, helping me to have documentation that is complete, accurate, well-structured and ready for appropriate billing by the time the patient encounter ends.”

Uniquely Built for Each Specialty

While general AI solutions often struggle with the nuances of specialized medicine, ModMed Scribe 2.0 is engineered with the intelligence required for high-stakes specialty care. By moving beyond "one-size-fits-all" models, ModMed Scribe 2.0 enables significantly more efficient clinical documentation by recognizing the unique vocabulary and workflows of each discipline—from identifying complex lesion morphology in dermatology to documenting intricate procedural nuances in orthopedics.

For Jonathan Richey, DO, Dermatology Specialists of McKinney, this was a critical differentiation: “ModMed Scribe handles dermatology-specific language far better than any prior AI tool I’ve tried. It recognizes lesion morphology, anatomic detail, and procedural nuances with impressive consistency.”

Introducing ScribeMaster from ModMed

For providers curious about AI-assisted clinical documentation, ModMed will soon launch ScribeMaster, a fun, immersive simulator that lets clinicians explore the power of AI scribe technology in a risk-free environment. Using real-time voice conversations, providers can practice with simulated AI patient interactions across dermatology, orthopedics, and other specialties. A detailed analytics dashboard allows clinicians to track their progress and identify areas to improve their interactions with AI. While ScribeMaster uses the same powerful ModMed Scribe AI engine, ScribeMaster is not a commercial product and is not intended for clinical use. ScribeMaster will be available at no cost to both ModMed EHR customers and the general public at www.signupforscribemaster.ai.

The Path to the AI-Powered Practice™

ModMed Scribe 2.0 is the first product delivered from ModMed’s strategy for bringing the AI-Powered Practice to life. In the AI-Powered Practice, intelligent AI tools help responsibly manage the entire practice, from initial patient scheduling through the clinical visit and follow-up, all the way to billing and collection. Designed to keep humans fully in control of decision-making, these AI Assistants will be able to handle much of the repetitive, lower-value tasks so that individuals working in the practice can focus on more complicated, higher-value work.

A key differentiator in ModMed’s approach to creating the AI-Powered Practice is that the AI tools are built natively into the ModMed software suites for EHR, practice management, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement.
