Y8 today announced Interstellar Legends, a browser-based sci-fi strategy gacha RPG developed with over $2 million in investment and more than eight years of development. The game launches first on the web to gather player feedback before planned expansion to Android, iOS, and Steam.

HONG KONG, HK / ACCESS Newswire / March 18, 2026 / Global browser gaming platform Y8 today announced Interstellar Legends, a science-fiction strategy gacha RPG developed with an investment exceeding $2 million. The title represents one of the largest in-house game investments undertaken by the platform.

The game is initially launching on the open web through the Y8 platform, allowing players to access the game instantly through a browser before its planned expansion to additional platforms including Android, iOS and Steam.

The game is available at:

According to the company, launching on the web allows developers to gather player feedback, observe gameplay behaviour and refine the experience before expanding the title to mobile and PC platforms.

Interstellar Legends places players in a futuristic universe where they command a squad of heroes discovering distant planets while battling alien creatures in turn-based tactical combat. Players can upgrade characters, collect equipment, power-up abilities and build strategic teams while progressing through missions across different sectors of space.

The game includes progression systems such as equipment upgrades, awakening and bio-cloning mechanics, allowing players to strengthen their squad while exploring hidden star gates and encountering boss battles throughout the galaxy. Players can also advance through the Tower of Ascension and challenge other players as they progress through the game.

Unlike many modern strategy RPG titles, Interstellar Legends launches without in-app purchases, allowing players to experience the full game without microtransactions commonly associated with gacha-style games.

A spokesperson for Y8 said the web-first release strategy reflects the advantages of browser gaming, which allows developers to reach players instantly without downloads or installations.

"Launching the game on the web enables us to observe real player engagement and refine gameplay systems before expanding to mobile and PC platforms," the spokesperson said.

The company noted that the project represents more than eight years of development and investment in browser-based gaming technology, reflecting growing confidence in the capabilities of modern web platforms.

Advancements in web technologies now allow increasingly complex games to run directly inside web browsers, enabling developers to deliver large-scale gaming experiences without requiring dedicated apps or installations.

The title was developed by Y8 Studio, the in-house game development arm of the Y8 platform.

Founded in 2006, Y8 operates a global browser gaming platform hosting thousands of games playable directly in web browsers across desktop and mobile devices.
