Cry Harder, Austin. Redistrictin’ Ain’t Riggin’.
The Salty Citizen

Dang right we redrew the lines.
You lost. We govern. Welcome to federalism, amigos!
The way Texas Democrats talk (from cush hotels not in Texas) this is the Alamo!
“We are fighters! We are committed! Give me liberty or give me…a privately chartered jet to another state so I can avoid a vote and escape the reality of a GOP controlled state.” I mean…it’s gonna be hard to fit on the front of a shirt but it’s true. If this is the Alamo, the Texas Left…left. Literally. Y’all are more Moses Rose than Travis or Crockett.
When Travis drew the line in the sand at the Alamo, he asked whoever was with him to cross the line–who was willing to stay, defend, and likely die. Whoever was not willing did not cross the line, one man–Moses Rose–did not cross the line. He left. Like the left. Now can you imagine Moses Rose tucking tail because he knew he was in a losing battle…and upon arriving a safe distance away, giving interviews as a hero? Touting his intrepid courage? Me neither. But that is essentially what is happening in Texas today.
What Is Gerrymandering?
Gerrymandering is the manipulation of electoral district boundaries to favor one political party over another. The term originated in 1812 when Massachusetts Governor Elbridge Gerry signed a redistricting plan that looked like a salamander — thus, “Gerry-mander.”
Is Gerrymandering legal?
Gerrymandering is not inherently illegal — and in fact, redistricting is a legal, constitutional obligation carried out every 10 years after the census. Both parties have used it over the last 200+ years, but it gained particular scrutiny with the Voting Rights Act of 1965 when racial gerrymandering vs partisan gerrymandering was the issue. Racial gerrymandering is unconstitutional. Partisan redistricting, while annoying if you are not the party in control, is constitutional. The Democrats know this because they have done this, ruthlessly in fact.
-
Illinois: Democrats carved up Chicago suburbs and gave it a tail to dilute Republican votes and secure more congressional seats.
-
Maryland: One of the most gerrymandered states in the country. Infamously, so.
-
New York: Democrats were so aggressive with a redraw in 2022 that it was ultimately rejected by courts.
- California: Anyone think Republicans will hold office there ever again? That’s not by accident, friends.
The Left isn’t opposed to gerrymandering.
Not at all. They are just opposed to it being done by anyone but them. ‘Notice how the “Democrat Deserter’s” messaging is all emotion driven, as opposed to fact drive. Trump…tyranny…fighter…blah, blah, blah. Look at these facts: In Illinois, Oregon, California, and Maryland an average of 40% of their population voted Republican in the 2024 election. Their congressional representation? An average of 15%.
You wanna be mad? Be a Republican in California! Republicans in California represent 40% of the population but have 19 of 80 Congressional seats. 9 of 52 Senate seats. Yes, you have to factor in candidates and campaigns. But the lines have been drawn for those states. On purpose. Gerrymandering. It’s a thing. And while we may find it shade and uncouth, it’s legal and the left has had a monopoly on it for far too long. And it’s not even their favorite weapon. Lest we forget.
-
Ballot Harvesting: Legalized or decriminalized in multiple blue states, leading to concerns over ballot chain of custody.
-
Universal Mail-In Voting: Pushed during COVID and now normalized in key swing states. Opens wide the door to fraud.
-
Same-Day Registration & Automatic Voter Registration: Makes verification impossible.
-
Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV): Increasingly pushed by Democrats — often confuses voters and can dilute clear majorities (see Alaska). Also, how you got Mamdani winning the NY primary.
-
Weaponized Lawfare: Targeting Republican candidates and movements via the DOJ, IRS and lawsuits meant to drain time, energy, and resources.
- Refusing to Confirm Trump’s Appointees: How bout do that and we’ll see?
- Umm…Russian Collusion? Hiden Biden? Shall we go on listing the reprehensible and egregious ways the Left tried to game the elections and their outcomes? And the American people?
Y’all this November, THIS NOVEMBER, nine months ago…Biden’s DOJ sued the state of Virginia for purging verifiably deceased or disqualified voters from its own rolls!!! Along with Alabama. Which party wants illegal immigrants to have access to the ballot box?! And why?!
Republicans may be manipulating lines, but Democrats have been trying to manipulate the whole system. For decades. Quite successfully. Don’t even come at me with, “But, but…Jasmine Crockett may lose her seat.” I know. Good.
Good guys don’t fight to avoid accountability and accuracy.
So, come on home. You cowards. Take your medicine. There’s a reason no one remembers, can confirm, or cares about Moses Rose. Show up. Man up. I’d love us to return to a more stately and respectable form of government. But until then, just be glad the GOP is still playing by the rules. The radicals on the left absolutely are not.
And while we are talking about the Lone Star GOP…don’t be too proud of them. We have a Republican majority right now and you wouldn’t know it to look at our Capitol. They could use stiffer upper lips as well.
