COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 3, 2025--

The Emily Program, a nationally recognized leader in eating disorder treatment, announced the launch of nasogastric (NG) tube services at its Columbus residential site to broaden recovery options and better serve local patients. NG tube care involves inserting a flexible tube through the nose and into the stomach and enables medically supervised nutritional support for patients who are unable to meet their dietary needs through oral intake alone. This approach allows oral intake to continue alongside tube feeding, reinforcing typical eating practices.

It complements existing treatments and interventions on patients’ individualized recovery plans. The service soft-launched on August 4, 2025, and has already supported two patients. It is now widely available as part of the Columbus program’s comprehensive clinical offerings.

“The Emily Program is proud to expand our comprehensive suite of patient services with NG tube support for both adults and adolescents,” said Dr. Brad Smith, Chief Medical Officer at The Emily Program. “Adding this intervention allows us to meet patients’ critical medical and nutritional needs on-site, providing continuity of care and supporting their long-term recovery within a stable, comprehensive treatment environment.”

NG tube support is designed for patients who can eventually meet their long-term energy needs through oral nutrition but require short-term assistance for weight restoration. Enteral nutrition via NG tube, provides essential nourishment when oral intake alone is not sufficient, ensuring patients receive the calories and nutrients necessary to maintain medical stability and recovery.

“We are thrilled to bring this service to patients at our Columbus site and to see the positive impact our care is already having in the community,” said Sarah Bergen, Ohio Regional Medical Director. “By offering NG tube support as part of our comprehensive suite of services, we are able to help a wider range of patients, and ensure they receive the treatment and support needed to stay on track to long-term recovery and well-being.”

The Emily Program intends to expand NG tube services to its other residential sites, increasing access to this specialized treatment across the country.
