COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 2, 2024--

Agile announced today that it is expanding its clinical services to include full-time clinical psychology, available to patients throughout its 23 California clinics. Adding in-house clinical psychology will streamline access to care and elevate clinical collaboration, driving a higher quality of care for patients.

“At Agile, we constantly seek innovative ways to improve patient care in the workers’ compensation system," said Agile Founder and CEO Greg Moore. “In today’s market, we routinely see delays and difficulty getting our patients to specialists. One area of particular concern is psychology,” continued Moore. “Our goal is to reduce the duration of care by eliminating needless delays. Some specialties, like psychology, can take weeks to get an appointment, adding weeks to claim duration and temporary disability without any medical purpose.”

Clinical psychologists conduct psychological assessments to diagnose mental health conditions that may affect an employee's ability to perform their work duties. These can include anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, and work-related stress.

“In industries where employees may experience traumatic events, such as first responders, healthcare workers, or those in high-risk professions, clinical psychologists can provide psychological support following incidents and help develop long-term strategies for coping with trauma. They may offer trauma-focused therapy and help employers create systems for managing emotional distress related to work-related accidents or crises,” noted Michael Gill, Vice President of Clinical Services. “Agile’s in-house specialists are credentialed into the MPN networks, reducing referral barriers and allowing us to streamline booking, which eliminates delays and is part of our commitment to deliver on claim reductions,” continued Gill.

Clinical psychologists can also evaluate whether a patient is ready to return to work and help develop an appropriate return-to-work plan. This might involve gradual reintegration into the workplace, reasonable accommodations, or modifications to the work environment to support the employee's mental health and ensure a successful transition.
