NBA-LAKERS-JAMES INJURY
LeBron James out at least 1 more week with groin injury
LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James will miss at least four more games with the Los Angeles Lakers while he recovers from a left groin strain.
The Lakers on Friday said James' injury will be re-evaluated in one week.
The four-time NBA MVP already has missed four games after getting hurt during the Lakers' victory at Golden State on Christmas. His recovery schedule will keep him out of the Lakers' upcoming two-game road trip and a home game against Detroit next week.
The Lakers are 1-3 without James in their lineup. They host the New York Knicks on Friday night.
James is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists during his first season with the Lakers.

Gase interviews with Jets
UNDATED (AP) — The Jets have interviewed former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase for their head coaching vacancy.
Gase is the second known meeting New York has had as it looks for a replacement for Todd Bowles , who was fired last Sunday night after he went 24-40 in four seasons. The Jets spoke with Gase on Friday after interviewing Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (bee-EN'-uh-mee) in Kansas City on Wednesday.
Gase was 23-26 in three seasons with Miami , including a playoff game in 2016, before being fired Monday
In other NFL news:
— New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores is the first candidate to interview for the Miami Dolphins' coaching job. Flores, who met Friday with the Dolphins, has been a Patriots assistant for 11 seasons and took over defensive play-calling a year ago after the departure of defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
— The Pittsburgh Steelers have parted ways with outside linebackers coach Joey Porter. The team announced Friday that Porter's contract would not be renewed. The move is the first of what could be several coaching adjustments by the Steelers after Pittsburgh failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2013. The 41-year-old Porter, who spent 13 seasons in the NFL before going into coaching, joined the Steelers as a defensive assistant in 2014 and was promoted to outside linebackers coach in 2015.
— Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn is standing by Matthew Stafford after a disappointing season. Quinn said in no uncertain terms Friday that Stafford is Detroit's quarterback. The Lions GM spoke for over 40 minutes at a news conference in which he looked back on Detroit's 6-10 season. Stafford's future with Detroit has been the subject of some speculation after he threw for 3,777 yards this season, his lowest total since 2010.
AP ALL-PRO TEAM
AP All-Pro team has Kansas City accent: Mahomes, 3 teammates
NEW YORK (AP) — Patrick Mahomes (mah-HOHMZ') and three other Kansas City Chiefs have made The Associated Press 2018 NFL All-Pro Team.
Kansas City's quarterback is joined by teammates Travis Kelce (KEL'-see) at tight end, Tyreek Hill as the flex player and Mitchell Schwartz at right tackle.
Also making the All-Pro team are the first rookie teammates since 1965 — Colts guard left Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard. Nelson and Leonard are among four rookies on the squad, a first for the AP team. Seahawks punter Michael Dickson and Chargers safety Derwin James also made it. The last time rookies from the same team were All-Pros was 1965. And that was not a bad combo: Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers, both Hall of Famers.
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was the only unanimous choice in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league.
Chicago also had four All-Pros: edge rusher Khalil Mack, cornerback Kyle Fuller, safety Eddie Jackson and punt returner Tarik Cohen.
Two players made All-Pro for the fifth time: Houston edge rusher J.J. Watt and Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly.
The team had a split of 14 AFC and 14 NFC members. There were 16 newcomers.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL-NEWS
Ohio State center Michael Jordan will enter NFL draft
UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State will lose experience and leadership on the offensive line with center Michael Jordan's decision to leave early for the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-7, 312-pound lineman announced he would forgo his senior season in a tweet on Friday. After starting as a true freshman and playing two years at left guard, Jordan moved to center last season to replace All-American Billy Price.
Jordan's announcement comes after linebacker Malik Harrison and safety Jordan Fuller, both draft-eligible NFL prospects, said they were staying at Ohio State. Running back Mike Webster and defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones have announced their early departures.
In other college football news:
— Georgia tight end Isaac Nauta says he is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Nauta was third on the team with 30 catches for 430 yards and three touchdowns this season. His top game of the season came against Florida, when he had five catches for 73 yards. Nauta is the first Georgia underclassman to declare for the draft. The school is awaiting decisions from other underclassmen including tailback Elijah Holyfield, wide receivers Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman and defensive back J.R. Reed.
— Georgia quarterback Justin Fields may be getting closer to transferring to Ohio State. A person close to the situation tells the AP that the overall No. 2 national prospect in the 2018 recruiting class was expected to visit the Ohio State campus on Friday.
— Pittsburgh has fired offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman in an effort to overhaul its beleaguered offense. Coach Pat Narduzzi made the announcement on Friday. The Panthers went 7-7 this season and won the ACC Coastal Division for the first time but had trouble generating offensive against quality opponents, particularly through the air. Pitt finished 97th in the country in total offense, 93rd in scoring offense and 120th in passing offense.
— Two people familiar with the situation say West Virginia and Troy's Neal Brown are completing a deal to make him the next coach of the Mountaineers. Brown would replace Dana Holgorsen, who this week left West Virginia to become Houston's coach. The 38-year-old Brown has coached Troy since 2015 and is 35-16 at the Sun Belt school.
— George Welsh, who coached football at Virginia for 19 years and retired as the Atlantic Coast Conference's career victories leader, has died at age 85. Welsh compiled a 134-86-3 record at Virginia from 1982-2000. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004. The former Navy quarterback took over a Cavaliers program that had had just two winning seasons in 29 years. He guided Virginia to an 8-2-2 record in his third season, which ended with the school's first appearance in a bowl game. Virginia went to bowl games 11 more times during his tenure.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL-NEWS
UNC's Williams: Manley won't play at Pittsburgh
UNDATED (AP) — North Carolina coach Roy Williams says sophomore big man Sterling Manley will miss his second straight game when the Tar Heels play at Pittsburgh.
Manley sat out of Wednesday's home win against Harvard due to soreness in his left knee. At the time, the school said it was unclear when he would return and he was still being evaluated.
Manley is averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 55 percent for the 15th-ranked Tar Heels. He's also tied for the team lead with eight blocked shots.
Saturday's game at Pittsburgh is UNC's Atlantic Coast Conference opener.
In other college basketball news:
—UConn forward Kassoum Yakwe is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a fracture in his right foot. Coach Dan Hurley says the 6-foot-7 graduate transfer from St. John's suffered the injury during the team's shootaround before Wednesday's loss at South Florida.
— Drake senior guard Nick Norton will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury. The Bulldogs said Friday that Norton, who is averaging 14 points and 5.9 points per game, tore the ACL in his left knee in the first half of Wednesday's double-overtime loss at Evansville. Losing Norton, a graduate transfer from UAB, could be a big blow to Drake's Missouri Valley title hopes. The Bulldogs got off to an 11-2 start before falling at Evansville in the league opener.
— Bob Burrow, a two-time All-American whose per-game average of 17.7 rebounds is a Kentucky single-season record, has died. He was 84. Burrow had 459 rebounds in 26 games during the 1954-55 season and pulled down 34 against Temple in December 1955 to tie Billy Spivey for Kentucky's single-game mark.
MLB-YANKEES-TULOWITZKI
Tulowitzki, Yankees finalize 1-year deal
NEW YORK (AP) — Troy Tulowitzki and the New York Yankees have finalized a one-year contract for the major league minimum $555,000, giving the team a low-cost option at shortstop while Didi Gregorius recovers from Tommy John surgery.
Tulowitzki idolized retired Yankees captain Derek Jeter and has worn No. 2 in his honor. A five-time All-Star who turned 34 in October, Tulowitzki has not played in the major leagues since July 2017 and was released by the Toronto Blue Jays last month. He was limited to 66 games in 2017 because of a hamstring and right ankle injury. The ankle required surgery last spring and he missed the entire season.
Gregorius had right elbow surgery on Oct. 17 and is not expected to return until summer. New York also has been talking with Manny Machado, one of the top available free agents. Tulowitzki could slot in at shortstop, allowing Gleyber Torres to remain at second base and Miguel Andujar to stay at third.
Tulowitzki is owed $20 million for next year, $14 million for 2020 and a $4 million buyout of a 2021 team option. Toronto pays all but the big league minimum in the Yankees deal, which would be offset against his 2019 salary.
NHL-PANTHERS-TROCHECK SKATES
Panthers' Trocheck back on ice, continuing ankle rehab
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Florida Panthers center Vincent Trocheck was back on the ice and skating Friday, barely six weeks removed from fracturing his right ankle.
The team released a photo of Trocheck on the ice before the team practiced. There is still no timetable for his return.
Trocheck had three goals and 11 assists in 18 games before he got hurt in a gruesome scene after crashing into the boards at Ottawa on Nov. 19, and had surgery to repair the fracture two days later. Trocheck has said that he plans on returning to the team this season.
He had career-highs of 31 goals and 44 assists for the Panthers last season.
NASCAR-TRUEX-SPONSOR
Bass Pro Shops moves with Martin Truex Jr. to Gibbs team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Martin Truex Jr. has landed Bass Pro Shops as sponsor for 24 races this season with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Bass Pro first partnered with Truex in 2001 and was on his car when he won the 2017 Cup Series championship with Furniture Row Racing. That team folded at the end of November because another sponsor left NASCAR and Furniture Row could not replace the funding.
It made Truex available to move to JGR, and Bass Pro will follow as his primary sponsor.
Bass Pro was primary sponsor for Truex during his two Xfinity Series championships in 2004 and 2005, his first three seasons in NASCAR's Cup Series, the 2017 championship season and last year's title campaign.
Truex will drive the No. 19 Toyota in Gibbs' four-car lineup.
