Avocado Crema

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 ripe avocados
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon sea salt
  • zest & juice of 2 limes
  • ¼ cup loosely packed fresh cilantro
  • 1/2-1 Serrano or jalapeño pepper, if you prefer a bit of heat.

A few notes on making this:

  • This is incredibly quick and easy to make as a topping for tacos, or on its own as a dip for chips or veggies, since it can be made in your food processor.
  • These ingredients are approximate— start with those amounts and add more or less to your taste.
  • This is also forgiving to make if your avocado isn’t perfectly ripe. Ripe ones are best, but even if it’s a little under ripe, it will blend nicely as long as it’s not too hard.

Directions:

  • Slice avocados lengthwise and remove pit and skin.
  • Slice Serrano or jalapeño lengthwise and remove stem and seeds. (Leave a few seeds if you prefer more heat.)
  • Add avocado, and Serrano or jalapeño if using, to a food processor or small blender, along with garlic, salt, lime juice, and cilantro, and blend until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust for seasoning.
  • Spoon over tacos and enjoy.
